Trench warfare with the Council: Robert Carver takes to the stage.

It has now been seven months and eleven days since Brighton & Hove City Council solemnly promised ITV that Bobby Carver’s five year long plight would be resolved speedily within a matter of weeks.

NOTHING HAS HAPPENED.

Well, not quite nothing.

In November 2016 the Council has attempted to con independent NHS experts into agreeing to a wholly unsuitable offer which had already been vetoed by the same NHS experts months before (evidenced).

In December 2016 the Council has turned down a truly acceptable accommodation because they have falsely accused Bobby Carver of being an abusive and dangerous physical threat, a possible risk to other disabled people (evidenced).

In March 2017 The Council has tried to have Bobby Carver removed from his home, against his will, and shipped off to an institution, against his will, resulting into something akin to a two hour long siege of the attic flat in Hove (evidenced).

In March 2017 the Council has claimed the right to bid on housing on Bobby Carver’s behalf, bringing up for the third time the prospect of entirely unsuitable and inaccessible emergency accommodation in a notorious hell-hole (evidenced).

The Council has managed, in all of this, to totally ignore their duty of care. Bobby Carver’s wellbeing is not mentioned at all in their internal emails, which are all focused on how to ‘rid’ themselves of Bobby Carver and making it appear as if laws and legal processes have been observed. They have also managed to pass on blatantly untrue information to elected Councillors, a Member of Parliament, local and national media and the public (evidenced).

How do we know all this? Well, Still Human UK has placed a Freedom of Information Act Subject Access Request, and though not all information was submitted (evidenced), in violation of the Freedom of Information Act, there were enough files, casenotes and emails concerning Bobby Carver’s case to make your hair stand up on end. Evidenced by the Council’s own documentation are flagrant breaches of the Housing Act, the Care Act, the Equality Act, the Public Sector Equality Duty, and the Disability Discrimination Act.

The Council, confronted with this, has predictably gone into total denial, refusing even to accept evidence we offered to share.

The Council has also made clear to Bobby Carver that they are displeased with his attempts to make his story known publicly and issued ominous warnings if Bobby Carver continues to do so. Bobby Carver’s response is defiant: PUBLISH AND BE DAMNED.

He is fighting back against the intransigent and bureaucratic mogul in the only way he can, through arts and entertainment.

Local charity Invisible Voices of Brighton & Hove has agreed to publish Robert Carver’s full story, as told by himself and based on the Council’s own documentation, in their Brighton Fringe 2017 book: Invisible Voices 2017.

As part of the Brighton Fringe, Bobby Carver will also take to the stage in a skit of his own in a stage show called ANOTHER BRIGHTON organised by Cascade Creative Recovery and Invisible Voices on Saturday 27 May at St Luke’s church in Prestonville (64 Old Shoreham Road, BN1 5DD, nr Seven Dials) at 19:00. Tickets (£10) available at the door or via: https://www.brightonfringe.org/box-office/shows/view/another-brighton

The Book Invisible Voices 2017, which includes over a hundred pages of Bobby Carver’s story, can be bought at the photo exhibition (upstairs) at the Cascade Creative Recovery coffee shop (24 Baker Street, BN1 4JN, nr the Level) every weekend in May, from 12:00 – 17:00 on Saturdays and Sundays (entry free) and, of course, at the stage show ANOTHER BRIGHTON. The books cost £8.

All support would be greatly appreciated. Every book and ticket sold will help further Bobby Carver’s cause and local homeless & recovery charities. Nobody makes a penny personal gain and that is a solemn promise.

If you would like a copy of the book, and Bobby Carver’s story therein, but are incapable of visiting the Brighton Fringe, please send an email to: stillhumanuk@gmail.com to register your interest. Postal orders will cost £10 (to include the shipping costs) and will be payable by check or Paypal. Overseas orders will be advised as to shipping costs, but we do have access to printers in the USA and Australia, which should keep costs down.

We’ll get back to you a.s.a.p. in June but please be patient as we are just a small group of volunteers and not a commercial giant specialised in book distribution.

Unfortunately, this story still has no ending, and we thank you most humbly and sincerely for your continued interest and support. We will not rest until we have JUSTICE FOR ROBERT CARVER.
